It is finally happening! I have site up and running and I am so excited to share my first wellness from within study. My goal is to write one daily focusing on one area of health, today we are going to talk about physical health starting with the importance of hydration--not just for the body but for the soul as well. Most people know that the recommended intake of daily water is 6-8 glasses/day; but how many of us actually do that? I have learned over the years that as long as I am drinking water all day long I am able to keep myself hydrated. If I don't then the I start feeling dehydrated with headaches, nausea and generalized weakness. That is my cue to drink some water or an electrolyte beverage to replenish my dehydrated body.
The same is true of our soul. We can be dehydrated there as well by not spending time with our Lord in prayer and in His word. Every time we spend time in His word or in prayer it hydrates us with Christ's living water and when we don't we become dry and brittle with the daily battles in this world we live in. It does not need to be long and drawn out, in fact it's better I think if we do frequent small bursts throughout our day.
For example, with my daily cup of coffee, I just spend few minutes noticing the quiet of the morning and thanking the Lord for the beauty all around me and the peacefulness that comes with the dawn. I then have my first and sometimes the only formal exercise of the day with restorative yoga and prayer. There are times when I pray the ACTS alone--Adore, Confess, Thanks and Supplication. On other day's I take the time with the ACTS acronym and go through the alphabet with my adoration, confession and thanks time, then I will lift up my supplicatons for the day. After breakfast, I spend some time reading, meditating, and studying His word along with some devotional reading; my current one is "Hope for Each day" by Billy Graham. I also try to spend some time in worship listening to Christian music usually just instrumental and color in one of my scripture coloring books, currently its the psalms. Then as I go abut the rest of my day I just talk to Him about what's going, when prompted if I have sin I confess it, if a prayer request is shared with me I pray right then and there, and if I get an answer to prayer I thank and praise Him for it.
The purpose of my day is always about Jesus and How I can serve Him and I cannot do that if I have not drank from the living waters of His word. The same is true physically, I cannot function properly if I am not hydrating with water along with my other beverages. Today choose to drink not just physical water to hydrate your body but the living water that comes from the Lord.
John 4:13-14 "Jesus answered and said to her, 'Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I give will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."

Life can be busy, chaotic and stressful. There our days when my mind is so full and I am so overwhelmed I find myself shutting down. I don't man to shut down, I just
